Emmett can be described in one word: big. Everything about him is big. Emmett has a body builder's physique, and he is very proud of that. It is believed that Emmett's strength is the talent that was magnified when he became a vampire. Emmett makes the other male vampires look small in comparison. He looks a little too old to be a high school student because of his muscles. Emmett is often compared to his food of choice, the grizzly bear because his build much resembles that of one.

Despite Emmett's muscularity, he seems very gentle. His dark, curly hair and teasing smile often give him the look of a teddy bear as opposed to a grizzly. Emmett is always joking around and laughing, so his smile is a very dominant feature of his compared to the rest of his family. When Emmett is joking around, his muscles become even more evident. He tends to grab people and lock them in a bear hug. How appropriate.

Personality (2+ paragraphs)

Emmett is tough. His personality matches his burly exterior. He is one to believe the saying, "Do or do not, there is no try." Emmett prefers the "do" of this saying, however. He is very competetive and refuses to lose. He thinks he can defeat all his adversaries, and he is right to think this. His confidence in his strength is what gives him this ability. Emmett is much like stone, inside and out.

Looking past his rock-hard confidence, Emmett is a joker. He likes to have fun, and often times at others' expenses. He is not afraid to poke fun at someone, but he does it with the utmost love. Emmett has a booming laugh that can be heard from quite the distance, even behind closed doors. Emmett loves those he is able to get close to, and he loves to have fun with them.

Background/History (3+ paragraphs)

Before Emmett was changed into a vampire, he was quite the athlete. He greatly enjoyed doing things outdoors. Among his favorite outdoor activities were camping and hunting. Emmett loved being in the woods. Emmett is very strong and burly, so this type of activity only seemed fitting for one such as himself. When Emmett was hunting, however, he struggled with being cautious.

In 1935, Emmett was out hunting in the mountains of Tennessee when he was attacked by a bear. He very nearly died, but Rosalie found him and brought him to Carlisle to be saved because she didn't feel she would be able to do it herself. Emmett describes the event as being saved by an angel who brought him to God. Once the pain of the change had passed, Rosalie and Carlisle explained the situation to him, and to their surprise, being a vampire did not disturb him. Emmett was one to struggle with the rules at first and has "slipped up" on several occasions.

He is married to Rosalie, and has married her several times for show. Emmett will do anything to make Rosalie happy, and since Rosalie likes attention and is all about show, she gets a wedding every so many years. Often time, he and Rosalie live away from the others as a newlywed couple, but when the Cullen family moves away, they always return to be with their family.

Emmett's stance was that of a bear waiting to pounce. This was a group unlike every other he had ever faced. This was more than the Volturi. This was the strength behind the Volturi. All eight, each of them twice the size of Emmett, were staring him straight in the eyes. Emmett, stiff with intimidation for the first time, prepared himself for the worst. He knew alone he was no match for this team.

If only I could outsmart them...or outrun them. This is impossible. I cannot win. Rosalie is going to die at my hand. We will both be destroyed. How did one such as Jessica Stanley find out about us? Jessica Stanley...the biggest gossip in Forks, Washington. Maybe if I eliminated those who knew I could save Rosalie. Perhaps a bargain...

Before Emmett could say anything, the eight had circled around him. Thier eyes were crimson with thirst, and their muscles were tense with the desire to combat. Thier snarls, each entering as in a round, resonated throughout the empty, lifeless meadow. Emmett glanced toward Rosalie one last time, love's intensity burning in his golden eyes. With the utmost precision and power, Emmett lunged into battle.
